We Took the Dodge Charger Scat Pack to El Mirage and Went Really Fast

It was hot. Considering we were out in the middle of what was virtually a desert, that didn’t really come as a surprise to anybody. But with the sun blazing down, and vultures circling overhead (not really), it was the perfect location for a top speed run in a Charger we had on loan.

The setting: El Mirage. The dry lake bed is about an hour and a half east of LA, and gives people with not enough to live for the chance to go fast. Really fast.

We decided that the four-door-fun Dodge Charger Scat Pack would be the perfect victim vehicle to try and top out. And though it wasn’t the same #707 you’d find in the Charger Hellcat, the $40,000 price tag and 485 horsepower seemed like a hell of a bargain for a healthy amount of power. It was not slouch, as we found out.

The needle sped furiously past 120 miles per hour, the world slowed, and everything began to line up. 130. 145. Faster. 160. Come on. 170. 172. Almost there. GET READY TO TAKE THE PICTURE.
